The University of Texas Tower is one of Austin's most famous landmarks. They do allow people to go up to the observation deck, now as part of a tour offered at the tower.

The view from the tower is quite fantastic. I should probably use this as an excuse to go (and take pictures!).

Directions to Star of Texas Inn from I-35: Take the Martin Luther King (MLK) exit off of I-35 and heading west. Go about a mile to Rio Grande St. and turn right. Go to 22nd St. and turn right. At the very next right, turn into our lot.

Directions to Star of Texas from Mopac (Loop 1): Take the Windsor exit and head east. Cross over Lamar and keep going. After the stop light at Rio Grande take a right at the next stop light. There is currently no street sign, but this is Nueces. When you reach 22nd St., turn right. Our house is the large yellow and white on the left corner at Rio Grande; you should turn into our lot before you reach the corner.

Directions to Star of Texas from the Airport: Take Hwy 71 West out of the airport. You will have to enter a ramp onto the 71 highway at some point. Make a right at the light at Riverside. There is a large La Quinta hotel to the left where you need to turn right. Take Riverside all the way to I-35, and go North (right). Take the Martin Luther King (MLK) exit off of I-35 (EXIT 235A). You will need to go thru the first light after exiting (15th Street) and head west (left) at the next light (MLK). Go almost a mile to San Antonio St. and turn right. Go to 22nd St. and turn left. We are just up on the left right before you get to the next stop sign. We are on the corner at 22nd Street and Rio Grande.
